The word Christingle means ‘Christ-Light’. The Christingle is an orange, decorated with a red ribbon, sweets and nuts, in which is placed a small candle. The orange represents the world, the ribbon Christ’s blood, and the sweets and nuts the fruits of the earth.
Christingle is a very popular family celebration held on Christmas Eve - see our What's On? page for details.
Christingle is a time when we give our support to The Children’s Society, which works with and for children to help them deal with life's harshest challenges and face the future with confidence.
See our Christmas page for more information.
