As you will see below, we hope in the future to have good facilities to offer the community. In the meantime, facilities are available at Strensall Village Hall. To make a booking, please contact Val Little on 01904 492757 or send her an email.
For a long while we have been developing plans to improve our hall facilities but within a project that improves the whole of the Church in order to provide better for the many current activities and also to reach out more into the community of Strensall and work with other agencies. Plans have been developed for a re-build that meet the constraints necessarily imposed upon us, including being a Grade 2 listed building in a conservation area. This project has been named the 'Spearehead Project' in memory of dearly-missed Christine Speare.
The need to replace the heating system has dictated that the main Church building will be 're-ordered' first - this work is now imminent. All the heating pipes have to be replaced meaning that the Nave floor must be lifted and when replaced it will need to be levelled out. Pews have to be replaced with high-quality bespoke chairs, specified by us. You are invited to sponsor or buy a new chair. Details can be obtained from the Webmaster.
Further changes include the creation of a 'Lady Chapel' in the current Vicar's Vestry, which will move to a new location under the bell-tower.
Whilst work is undertaken, services will be held at Robert Wilkinson School. Keep and eye on the What's On page for dates when this is applicable.
This development is part of the continuous process of evolution that Saint Mary's has seen over the years. For further information see our Building and History page.
