As you will see below, we hope in the future to have good hall facilities to offer the community. In the meantime, facilities are available at Strensall Village Hall. To make a booking, please contact Val Little on 01904 492757 or vblittle@btinternet.com
For a long while we have been developing plans to improve our hall facilities but within a project that improves the whole of the Church in order to provide better for the many current activities and also to reach out more into the community of Strensall. Plans have been developed for a re-build that meet the constraints necessarily imposed upon us, including being a Grade 2 listed building in a conservation area. This project has been named the 'Spearehead Project' in memory of dearly-missed Christine Speare.
The need to replace the heating system dictated that the main Church building has been 're-ordered' first. All the heating pipes were replaced meaning that the Nave floor had to be lifted and when replaced it had to be levelled out. Pews were replaced with high-quality bespoke chairs, specified by us. You are invited to sponsor or buy one of these chairs. Details can be obtained from webmaster@strensallstmarys.org.uk.
Further changes included the creation of a 'Lady Chapel' in the current Vicar's Vestry, which will moved to a new location under the bell-tower. A plan of the new arrangements can be found on the church building page.
This development is part of the continuous process of evolution that Saint Mary's has seen over the years. For further information see our Building and History page.
